This is the 32nd year in the life of The Versatile Concert Orchestra and a great deal has happened since 1982. We all look forward to another year of memorable performances.
Music is dated simply by virtue of the circumstances prevailing during it’s inception which are dominated by rights of ownership, copyright and other worldly issues. Actually music does not age, nor deteriorate or decay. It simply does not get played, for a variety of reasons.
The thing that does change though, is taste and fashion, which leads to the label ‘popular music’, or ‘pop’, and the resultant debates about musical quality.
Good music transcends it’s classification and moves easily from popular to perpetual. People glibly refer to these works as ‘old favourites’ which conjures up a vision of some dusty retirement home for music.
That’s where the Versatile Concert Orchestra steps into the fray to unlock the doors, blow away the dust and continue to perform the musical masterpieces that have kept hearts, minds and feet beating with the everlasting pulse of “good music”.
